Why She Thinks it
Updated: Dec 2, 2020
*This blog post contains content of suicide, suicidal ideation, and a simple help guide.
I just feel like everyone would be better off if I wasn't here...
Why she thinks it;
Her why belongs to her, she is thinking, feeling and participating in her own story, and currently feels the people in her world would be "better off" without her. Her feelings have a source, she may or may not understand the cause, yet she feels it. These feelings attribute to the thoughts, and now the thoughts have become the source of her pain, confusion, and an idea that her life is a burden on others.
The why is important, yet right now keeping her safe is the priority. Safety first, asking important questions about the environment around her, who is she with? if she is alone, is she capable of creating a safe environment for herself. Is she able to communicate with you her willingness to stay safe? Is she capable to follow simple instructions to encourage safe actions for the immediate time? If she is with others, is she safe with them, can she share with them her current thoughts? Engaging with her, asking simple questions, helping her create her own safety plan. If she is unable to demonstrate the ability to stay safe, you will begin to guide her towards choosing a place to go where she will be safe.
